Getting vaccinated against the flu is always a personal decision. Those with diabetes need to place more weight on this decision though.

In response to the discussion under the flu shot post...Getting vaccinated against the flu is always a personal decision. Those with diabetes need to place more weight on this decision though.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) states:
"Although people with diabetes are more likely to die with the flu, about 50% do not get an annual flu shot. Pneumococcal disease kills more people in the United States each year than all other vaccine-preventable diseases combined, and people with diabetes are at greater risk."
