Gestational diabetes can increase the risk of giving birth to a baby weighing more than 4.5 kg so it would take delivery by Caesarean section. Pregnant women with gestational diabetes are also at risk of hypertension or pre-eclampsia.
Treatment
Gestational diabetic pregnant women should follow a healthy diet in order to control blood sugar levels. If diet can not handle it, pregnant women should undergo insulin therapy to prevent complications of other diseases that attack the health of both mother and fetus.
Parties to the American Diabetes Association recommends that pregnant women have gestational diabetes to conduct further investigation in six to 12 months after delivery.

- Bloody Afro-American, Hispanic, American, or Asian.
- Suffering from symptoms of pre-diabetes or impaired glucose tolerance.
